A Resolution to recognize and support our Universities heritage as it relates to tobacco. Suggests the University and or NC Legislature retracts it's ban on smoking in university buildings or within 25 feet of them.

WHEREAS,  North Carolina State University has historically been an agricultural and technical university; and,

 

WHEREAS,  the University has been supported in numerous ways, both fiscally and in research by many tobacco companies; and,

 

WHEREAS,  many university students enjoy using tobacco products of a varying nature; and,

 

WHEREAS, North Carolina State University is a place of growth and development; and,

 

WHEREAS,  Students should be allowed to make their own decisions pertaining to them; and

 

WHERAS,     tobacco is still an influential and economically important crop in North Carolina; now therefore be it,

 

RESOLVED, that North Carolina State University Student Senate hereby directs the North Carolina State Board of Trustees and the North Carolina Legislature to reconsider their ban of smoking in University buildings and within 25ft of said buildings. And therefore, be it further;

 

RESOLVED, The North Carolina State University Student Senate thanks all student smokers for their continued support of a major state cash crop that inversely positively effects this great institution.
