WHEREAS, the administration at North Carolina State University has informed the student body that the completion of the Atrium Food Court project will be delayed until Fall 2011, despite the assurances to the Students and Student Government; and,
WHEREAS, the Atrium Food Court project was part of the inseparable Talley and Atrium project indebtedness fee; and,
WHEREAS, the graduated fee was structured so that students would see the
completion of renovations and/or expansions proportional to the fee for that
academic year; and,
WHEREAS, that fee was supported by the students with the assurances that the Atrium would be finished by Fall 2010; and,
WHEREAS, due to the delay in the projected completion of the project, the students’ trust in the administration has already been compromised before any renovation has begun; now therefore be it,
RESOLVED, the North Carolina State University Student Senate demands that the university completes the Atrium Food Court project by Fall 2010; and be it further,
RESOLVED, that should this demand not be met, Student Government will rescind Resolution 22, the 2010-2011 Fee Proposal Recommendations Act; and be it further,
RESOLVED, that the administration will lose a large majority of the student body and Student Government’s support if the project is delayed beyond Fall 2010; and be it further,
RESOLVED, that future fees proposed by the university will be highly scrutinized by Student Government and will be unlikely to receive student support; and be it further,
RESOLVED, that the above actions will be in effect immediately upon adoption by the Student Senate.
