Short Title: Bus Bicycle Rack Act

Sponsors: Senator Moore (Corresponding)

Signatories:

Referred to:

Version: adopted by Senate

First Reading: March 2nd, 2011                                 Second Reading: March 23rd, 2011

WHEREAS, students all across campus ride their bicycles to and from class on a regular basis; and,

WHEREAS, students sometimes have difficulty taking their bicycles from campus to campus (Main, Centennial or the Vet School campuses), especially if an accident were to occur, such as a flat tire or broken chain; and,

WHEREAS, being able to secure ones bicycle on a rack is extremely convenient during severe and often erratic weather patterns and gives a safer way to travel from class back to another location across campus or vice versa; and,

WHEREAS, by retrofitting buses with bicycle racks, it gives more options for students who wish to diversify the way in which they move across campus; now therefore be it,

RESOLVED, that the North Carolina State University Student Senate will work with the Department of Transportation to secure bicycle racks on engineering and veterinary routes only, if they are at the current state, able to be retrofitted; and be it further,

RESOLVED, that this bill shall become effective upon its enrollment.
