Resolution 42 A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO ENCOURAGE THE UNIVERSITY TO INCREASE CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION THROUGH OUTDOOR HOLIDAY DECORATIONS Short Title: Campus Holiday Decoration Act Sponsors: Senator Smith Secondary Sponsors: Senators Barker, Barnhill, Beeninga, Brooks, Campbell, Harrelson, Selzer, Stephens Signatories: Referred to: Version: Initial Version First Reading: October 6, 2010 Second Reading: WHEREAS, North Carolina State University has been ranked many times by several polls as one of the ugliest campuses in the United States; and, WHEREAS, the Winter Holiday Season, including but not limited to Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, and New Years, is a nationally and internationally recognized holiday season; and, WHEREAS, the City of Raleigh and most other municipalities across the nation decorate in some way for this season; and, WHEREAS, administration and grounds directors are collaborating on ways to make NC State a more positively aesthetic campus for students and the public; now therefore be it, RESOLVED, the students of NC State University request that the campus expand their holiday decoration to include outdoor decorations, which could possibly include but not be limited to banners, wreaths, and/or lights on light poles leading into campus during the months of November and December; and be it further, RESOLVED, that the University hold meetings with members of student government and the student community to collaborate on ways to accomplish this goal.
