A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO REESTABLISH FUNDING FOR THE BRICK

WHEREAS,   shortly before the end of the 2011-2012 fiscal year, the financial account, housed by NCSU Student Media, for The Brick was abruptly closed; and,

WHEREAS, the funding from this account was refunded to Student Government and resulted in an amount of $7,000 added to the Student Government funds, which was then included in the surplus from the 2011-2012 fiscal year; and,

WHEREAS, this $7,000 represents funds specifically allotted for The Brick, and not general Student Government funds; and,

WHEREAS, since Student Government is contractually obligated to retain these funds for their original intended purpose; and,

WHEREAS, the funds were not properly dispersed from the Surplus Bill passed during the current session of Student Government; and,

WHEREAS, the funds were instead accidentally added to the Appropriations disbursement, as well as the Finance Committee coffers for the current fiscal year; now therefore be it,

RESOLVED, that $3,950 from the Finance Committee coffers will be moved to line 1102B (funding for The Brick) in the budget; and be it further,

RESOLVED, that the remaining $3,050 will be placed in line 1102B from voided Appropriations checks from the Spring 2012 semester; and be it further,

RESOLVED, that additional funds received throughout this fiscal year from voided Appropriations checks will be placed in the Finance Committee coffers; and be it further,

RESOLVED, that this bill shall be effective upon enrollment.
