SENATE RESOLUTION 39

Chairman Sarah Lindh submitted the following report regarding Senate Resolution 39, "An Act to Confirm Mary Frances Woods as Executive Assistant to the Chief Justice", to the Student Senate on Wednesday, February 18th 2009, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its Wednesday, February 18th 2009 recommendations, with 3 members voting in the affirmative and 0 in the negative:

As provided by Senate Rule, the committee requests that the Senate President place Senate Resolution 39, on the calendar for second reading.

Attendance:

There were three (3) members (Chiang, Lindh, Jacquelyn Smith) present.

There were two (2) members (Brackett, D. Johnson) absent.

A quorum was present.

Purpose of Legislation:

To confirm Mary Woods as Executive Assistant to Chief Justice Lock Whiteside.

Background Information:

Woods is a sophomore who has previously been a Judicial Board Member her freshman year and understands all of the procedures and requirements that is needed to carry out assistant duties. She found out about J-board through the NCSU Organizations Fair during orientation.

Debate:

No debate needed. She is well qualified for this position and shows dedication.
