SENATE RESOLUTION 43
Chairman Sarah Lindh submitted the following report regarding Senate Resolution 43, "AN ACT TO EXPEL SENATOR MORAVEN ON THE CHARGE OF NEGLECT OF DUTY DUE TO EXCESSIVE ABSENCES", to the Student Senate on Wednesday, February 25th 2009, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its Wednesday, February 18th 2009 recommendations, with 3 members voting in the affirmative and 0 in the negative:
As provided by Senate Rule, the committee requests that the Senate President place Senate Resolution 43, on the calendar for second reading.
Attendance:
There were three (3) members (Chiang, Lindh, Jacquelyn Smith) present.
There were two (2) members (Brackett, D. Johnson) absent.
A quorum was present.
Purpose of Legislation:
To remove Senator Moraven from Student Senate, 88th Session for neglect of duty due to accumulated absences.
Background Information:
Senator Moraven has accumulated more than 14 absences from committee and Senate meetings, from this we confirm that his removal be immediate from his senate seat.
Debate:
No debate.
Recommendations:
We recommend that Senate approve the Expulsion Act for Senator Moraven.
