APPROPRIATIONS BILL 24

President Pro Tempore Jacquelyn Smith submitted the following report regarding Appropriations Bill 24, "A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO ALLOCATE FUNDS TO REGISTERED STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE FALL 2009 SEMESTER", to the Student Senate on Monday, October 12th 2009, on behalf of the Committee on Appropriations, and pursuant to its Sunday, October 11th 2009 recommendations, with 5 members voting in the affirmative and 0 in the negative:

As provided by Senate Rule, the committee requests that the Senate President place Appropriations Bill 24, on the calendar for second reading.

Attendance:

There were six (6) members (Baughman, Demanovich, Goldsmith, Harrelson, Robinson, Jacquelyn Smith) present. There was also one (1) non-voting member (Lamm) present.

There were three (3) members (Bloodworth, Nelson, J. Tucker) absent.

The following official was also present: Gonzalez.

A quorum was present.

Purpose of Legislation:

The purpose of this legislation is to allocate funds to student organizations.

Debate:

Our committee debated on how the extra money should be distributed and eventually we decided it should be rolled over for the spring. After careful consideration, we decided we could not give any more money to organizations participating in the appeals process.
