Committee Minutes, Wednesday, March 3rd 2010
Senator Jonathon Smith submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Wednesday, March 3rd 2010, on behalf of the Committee On Appointments, and pursuant to its Wednesday, March 3rd 2010 recommendations:
Attendance:
There were four (4) members (Beeninga, Bower, Clark, Jonathon Smith) present.
There were three (3) members (Crabtree, Hammond, Kouba) absent.
The following official was also present: Pullum.
A quorum was present.
Meeting Overview:
We met with the candidates for appointment. We considered each person and confirmed or denied each.
Meeting Minutes:
Senator Bower called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. The roll was called.
Monica Nobel, Junior in English and Psychology
Confirmation of Judicial Assistant Position
Allows her to impact students and get to know them.
Great advisors in the judicial program.
Tucker made the motion to confirm, Clark seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Amanda Shomper, Sophomore in Political Science
Election Commissioner Position
Has read elections packet.
Works well with all types of people. Toss around ideas and resolve conflicts.
Tucker made the motion to confirm, Clark seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
We discovered that Alyssa Starnes is currently studying abroad in Germany and will be unavailable to serve as a member of the Elections Commission. The committee voted unanimously to dismiss her confirmation.
We unanimously approved Colton Tingen for a position as Elections Commissioner.
Elections Commissioner Chairwoman Lindsey Pullum requested that Sherwood not be considered. The committee voted unanimously to reject the confirmation.
Melissa Walter, Sophomore, International Studies
Election Commissioner Position
Has not voted in elections. Is going to vote this election.
Likes on-campus residency.
Works well with others. Easy to get along with. Compromise well. Non-argumentative. Experienced with team experience.
Will completely read the elections packet to fully understand procedures.
Jonathon Smith made the motion to confirm, Tucker seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously.
Elections Commission Chair Pullum Statements:
Jen Meoni is very excited and ready to serve. I really need to make more use of her in the process.
Alex Fraser is an RA. Going to law school in the future. Ready and equipped to serve.
Senator Bower made Pullum aware of the necessity of all appointees to read and understand the elections packet.
Bower made the motion to confirm Meoni for the position of elections commissioner, Smith seconded, and the committee approved unanimously.
Bower made the motion to confirm Fraser for the position of elections commissioner, Tucker seconded, and the committee approved unanimously.
