Attendance:

There were four (4) members (Demanovich, Gatlin, Krystek, Yopp) present.

There were two (2) members (Clark, Taylor) absent.

The following officials were also present: Bryson, A. Davis, Devore, Goldsmith, Gromlich, Harrelson, Hrischuk, Selzer.

A quorum was present.

Meeting Overview:

This meeting is designed to serve as a brainstorming session for identifying issues that we would like to address this session.

Meeting Minutes:

Campus Police + Nightwalk:
-Uniform blue lights, more blue lights on campus
-Tours of the mobile police station

-Parking and Transportation
-Centennial – During high traffic times (usually 12 to 3) the buses are usually full; students have to wait for 2-3 full buses to pass before they are able to catch one. Possible solution: during high traffic times, change route 8A to regular route 8 so that it can pick up more students on centennial
-talk with transportation officials
-west lot completion?
-cheaper parking permits

Construction/Buildings and grounds:
-second tunnel – change stairs
-construction around Sullivan?
-make lights on campus LED/brighter lights
-disability access to buildings
-lake Raleigh + chancellors residence

Student Health Services:
-parking?
-pharmacy hours
-speed up construction

Counseling Center:
-Class drops: change the policy so that you don’t need counseling center approval for summer session drops (i.e. – if you are signed up for one summer class and want to drop it, you have to go through the counseling center and apply for a semester withdraw)
-Ten week vs. first summer – drop date? (Also discuss with Academics committee)

University Dining:
-Tucker/Owen and Wood/Avent Ferry – Case. How many people in Wood/Avent Ferry are athletes (have access to Case anyway)? How many people went to Case last year?
-Saturday hours – Morning hours?? (Concerns about shift length of staff members if hours are extended); Try to get dining halls to open at 9 on weekends
-more breakfast variety
-Creamery hours – closed when their hours indicate they are open?
-Nutritional info about food for Clark posted in dining hall
-Taco bell: possible to be open on Saturday?; work on flow of traffic around Taco Bell; possibility of Taco Bell to operate more like a regular Taco Bell (instead of just an express) in terms of meal and side options?
-C store hours over the summer
-Equivalencies at c-stores

NCSU Bookstores:
-printing books in house to cut out increased prices from textbook company mark up
-Talking to teachers about book requirements – not having to buy books for classes, making books optional, course reserves, copying relevant chapters from books, not needing to buy textbooks with internet access codes

Environmental Protection:
-recycling bins attached to trashcans
-solar panels
-LED lights
-grey water
-more recycling bins in dorms?
-battery recycling – appropriately labeled
