GOVERNMENT BILL 44
Senator Bradley Selzer submitted the following report regarding Government Bill 44, "A BILL TO BE ENTILED AN ACT TO CREATE THE PERMANENT COMMITTEE ON APPOINTMENTS ", to the Student Senate on Monday, November 1st 2010, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its Wednesday, October 27th 2010 recommendations, with 4 members voting in the affirmative and 0 in the negative:
As provided by Senate Rule, the committee requests that the Senate President place Government Bill 44, on the calendar for second reading.
Attendance:
There were four (4) members (Barnhill, Moore, Poosamani, Selzer) present.
There was one (1) member (Irwin) absent.
The following officials were also present: Adcock, Brooks, A. Davis, Devore, Gatlin.
A quorum was present.
Purpose of Legislation:
To create create a permanent committee on appointments.
Background Information:
We want a committee to interview senate appointments before they are brought before senate.
Debate:
Talked about the purpose of the committee and details on how it would execute.
Recommendations:
Keep the committee as a permanent committee
Committee Amendments:
Added a couple people as sponsor.
