RESOLUTION 79
Senator Jeffrey Cover Ennis submitted the following report regarding Resolution 79, "An Act to Express the Sense of the Senate Regarding the Change Proposed by Transportation to the Parking Policy", on Monday, March 18, 2002, on behalf of the University Affairs Committee, and pursuant to its March 7, 2002 recommendations, by general consent:
As provided by Senate Rule 12(b), the committee requests that the Senate President place Resolution 79 on the calendar for second reading.
Attendance:
There were eight (8) Senators (Carty, Ennis, Flowers, Holloman, Pedraza, Phillips, Wells, Wilmoth) present;
There were zero (0) Senators absent;
A quorum was present.
Purpose of the Legislation:
To express the sense of the Student Senate regarding the proposed parking changes.
Background Information:
The bill was originally filed before the committee had met with officials from Transportation. After we met with them and discussed the proposed changes, the bill was re-written to most appropriately reflect the decisions of the committee.
Debate:
Member(s) had reservations about certain aspects of the bill, compromises were made and the bill was altered to reflect a more central and germane stance.
Recommendations:
The University Affairs Committee recomends that the Student Senate pass this resolution by general consent.
