RESOLUTION 66

Senator Gary Palin submitted the following report regarding Resolution 66, "An Act Honoring the Contribution of the Department of 4-H Youth Development", on Wendesday, February 21, 2001, on behalf of the Academics Committee, and pursuent to its February 11, 2001 recommendations, by unamimous consent:

As provided by Senate Rule 12(b), the committee requests that the Senate President place R 66 on the calendar for second reading.

Attendance:

There were seven (7) Senators (Atkinson, Craver, Devore, Eglinton, Feucht, Palin, Ramirez.) present;

There were two (2) Senators (Mineiro, Peck.) absent;

A quorum was present.

Purpose of the Legislation:

R66 seeks to recognize the 4-H program for its contributions to North Carolina.

Debate:

Discussion of the bill centered on the wording and grammar of several sections. The committee agreed completely with the principle of the bill.

Recommendations:

The committee on academics recommends that R66 be calendared for second reading.
