Senator Philip Denton submitted the following report regarding Government Bill 06, "An Act to Abolish the Atypical Procedure for Handling Questions of Order Currently in Use by the Student Senate", on Monday, April 29, 2002, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its April 24, 2002 recommendations, by general consent:
As provided by Senate Rule 12(b), the committee requests that the Senate President place Government Bill 06 on the calendar for second reading.
Attendance:
There were five (5) Senators (Denton, Fabricius, Joyner, Matthews, Tatum) present;
There were zero (0) Senators absent;
A quorum was present.
Purpose of the Legislation:
To make the handling of Points of Order more efficient and to prevent the Student Senate President, along with minority of the Senate, from overturning any Senate rule.
