RESOLUTION 65
Chairman Lucy Tatum submitted the following report regarding Resolution 65, "AN ACT TO URGE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO FORMALLY REPRIMAND CHANCELLOR MARYE ANNE FOX FOR HER PERSONEL MANAGEMENT", on Tuesday, January 28th 2003, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its Monday, January 27th 2003 recommendations, with 4 members voting in the affirmative, 1 in the negative, and 1 having abstained from voting:
As provided by Senate Rule 14(b), the committee requests that the Senate President place Resolution 65 on the calendar for second reading.
Attendance:
There were five (5) Members (Fabricius, Horne, Moody, Palin, Tatum) present.
There was one (1) Member (Sheehan) absent.
A quorum was present.
The following officials were also present: Hutcherson, Pendergrass, Spencer, Stephenson
Purpose of Legislation:
As ammended by the committee, this bill would "strongly rebuke" Chancellor Fox for the termination of Abrams and Mallette. It also engcourages her to work hard in rebuilding the Office of the Provost, focusing on "stability, openness, and student involvement in academic governance."
Recommendations:
The committee recommends consideration by the Senate.
Committee Amendments:
The committee voted 4-1-1 to substitute the January 27th version of the bill for the previous version. A copy of the new bill is included with this report.
