GOVERNMENT BILL 79

Chairman Lucy Tatum submitted the following report regarding Government Bill 79, "General Punitive Powers Act", on Monday, March 24th 2003, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its Wednesday, March 19th 2003 recommendations, by general consent:

Attendance:

There were five (5) Members (Fabricius, Horne, Moody, Palin, Tatum) present.

There were zero (0) Members absent.

A quorum was present.

The following officials were also present: Gilligan, Hutcherson, Pendergrass

Committee Amendments:

On line 48, everything after "et seq." was struck up to line 72 (Part II) and the sections renumbered accordingly.

On line 185, the sentence from "Each punitive" to "implementation." on line 186 was struck.

Sections 2-2.23, 2-2.24, and 2-2.28 were struck.

2-2.34 now will be titled "Improper Qualification to Hold Office" and will read "The charge of improper qualification to hold office shall apply to cases in which a Student Government official lacks one or more qualifications to hold the office in which they serve."

Section 2-2.41 was struck.
