SENATE RESOLUTION 81
Chairman Erich M Fabricius submitted the following report regarding Senate Resolution 81, "A RULE FOR THE MODIFIED CLOSED RULE CONSIDERATION OF GOVERNMENT BILL 01", on Tuesday, February 18th 2003, on behalf of the Committee on Rules, and pursuant to its Monday, February 17th 2003 recommendations, with 5 members voting in the affirmative and 0 in the negative:
Attendance:
There were five (5) Members (Fabricius, Gray, Palin, Pendergrass, Spencer) present.
There were two (2) Members (Lester, Tatum) absent.
A quorum was present.
Purpose of Legislation:
As instructed by the Senate, this rule is introduced to allow amending GB 01, the Qualifications for Office Referendum Act, without risking a rehash of the unsuccessful attempts to reach a moderate position on GB 16 via amendments.
Should this rule be adopted, amendments that had beed transmitted to the Senate by 7:30 PM the day before (Tuesday) can be considered. If the rule is not adopted, SR 58 remains in full effect, and no amendments can be made.
Background Information:
GB 01 is currently under closed rule from SR 58.
Recommendations:
SR 81 was introduced pursuant to standing rule.
