SENATE RESOLUTION 01

Chairman C. Seth Lester submitted the following report regarding Senate Resolution 01, "WSI Officers Confirmation", on Monday, August 25th 2003, on behalf of the Finance Committee, and pursuant to its Sunday, August 24th 2003 recommendations, by general consent:

As provided by Senate Rule 14(b), the committee requests that the Senate President place Senate Resolution 01 on the calendar for second reading.

Attendance:

There were five (5) Members (Curlee, Diwan, Kristeller, Lester, Mckethan) present.

There were three (3) Members (Marsh, Pressley, Wilder) absent.

A quorum was present.

The following officials were also present: Fabricius, Matthews, Palin, Grant, Hammoudi, Miller, Mital Patel

Purpose of Legislation:

SR 01 is responsible for confirming the appointment of Anna Grant, WSI Director, and Taymour Hammoudi, WSI Treasurer.

Background Information:

Ms. Grant and Mr. Hammoudi served as Director and Treasurer, respectively, for the 2002 - 2003 session and seemed capable and appropriate candidates for the positions.

Recommendations:

The Finance Committee hereby reports SR 01 to the Senate favorably. Furthermore, the Finance Committee asks that the Committee on Rules consider SR 01 for placement on the Consent Agenda for the Senate meeting on Wednesday, August 27.
