COMMITTEE REPORT

Committee Minutes, Tuesday, February 21st 2006

Chairman Adam Whitehouse submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Tuesday, February 21st 2006, on behalf of the Campus Community Committee, and pursuant to its Tuesday, February 21st 2006 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were six (6) members (Bellamy, Haggard, Miller, Santiago, Stephenson, Whitehouse) present.

There were three (3) members (Adams, Collins, Wilburn) absent.

A quorum was present.

Meeting Overview:

-GB 110 was voted unanimously to discontinue consideration.
-No students showed up for ticket fraud hearings.
-Possible new legislation for elimination of opposite sex visiting hours in residence halls and co-ed residence halls.

I. Introductions

II. Consideration of GB 110 Campout Policy Act
-A motion was made to discontinue consideration of the bill
-The motion was seconded and passed with consent.
-Reasoning discussed behind discontinuing consideration of the bill that the committee deemed that the information included in the bill, while pertinent, would serve its purpose better in the rules section online.

III. Ticket Fraud Hearings
-None of the students accused of ticket fraud attended the meeting. Meaning they will receive the maximum punishment, lose of student ticket privileges for five games.
IV. Project HOWL Update
-Housing has said that they will probably have a room open in an old engineering building.

V. Brainstorm new ideas/legislation
A. Elimination of opposite sex visiting hours in residence halls.
-Discussion is postponed until this coming Thursday at 4:00 PM when there will be a meeting in Witherspoon pertaining to the subject.
B. Possibility of creating opposite gender halls in all residence halls.
-Jason Santiago has taken on the project of looking into this idea for residence halls throughout the campus.
