Campus Community Committee

My goal for this committee is to create a defined SG presence on campus, effectively serve student groups and organizations, and work towards the betterment of NC State University. We have the potential to accomplish great things, lets work together and make this year a success!

Mission of this Committee:

(b) Committee on Campus Community. The Committee on Campus Community shall be responsible for promotion of Senate among the Student Body, creation and distribution of materials concerning Senate, including all official publications, communication between Senate and the university community, addressing issues of diversity concern with the assistance of the Diversity Commission, policies concerning University Housing, the Student Media Authority, the Inter-Residence Council, Greek Life and the student Greek councils, the Outer Residence Council, the Union Activities Board, Registered Student Organizations, campus traditions and events and Athletics, including Ticket Distribution Policies (SBS § 9-1 and § 9-2). The Senate President shall appoint one Senator as committee Diversity Coordinator, who shall serve as point person on diversity issues for the Senate and committee. The Committee on Campus Community shall provide a Senate liaison to the Inter-Residence Council.

Current Campus Community Initiatives:

Campout updates: Friday at 5:00 p.m. there will be a meeting for everyone interested in helping with this year's Campout. UAB, SG, Campus Rec, and any other persons who are/ would like to be involved in Campout will speak at this meeting. We will go over budgets, updates, and delegate remaining responsibilities. I encourage each of you to be there, but if you can't and would like to be involved just let me know.
 
Carolina Tailgate: Need to speak with Kelli about this event, but I have made calls and it appears we do not have enough interest. IRC did not have enough interest to participate either.
 
Whine Week: I would like us to continue working on this event, but possibly set it up in the spring. SG has a lot of events coming soon. The athletic commission in partnership with SG will be throwing Howl out Hang Out in the brickyard. There will be games from Campus Rec all week, SG people will be in the brickyard, and Thur. we will be having a cookout for the school. They could definitely use help with publicity, but if anyone has something that they would like to add to this event, we can work with exec. on it.
 
Student Organizations: I would like to try and start to build a database of Student groups events and meetings which can be posted to one area. While building this site I believe it is a great opportunity to get the committee name out there, so Student Groups know that we are available to help them. How would you recommend doing this? Is this a project you would be interested in Campus Community taking on?
