WHEREAS, Claude McKinney served as Centennial Campus Coordinator from the position’s inception in 1988 to his retirement in July 2000; and,

WHEREAS, in the eighties Centennial Campus was a daring experiment in University expansion; and,

WHEREAS, Centennial Campus has become a noteworthy success and one of the University’s most distinctive assets, representative of the University’s future and new attitude; and,

WHEREAS, during his tenure as coordinator, Claude McKinney has been essential to the development of Centennial Campus into its current form; and,

WHEREAS, Claude McKinney’s experience in urban development allowed him to skillful manage the many aspects of the development of a multi-million dollar campus; and,

WHEREAS, Claude McKinney continued to expound his vision for Centennial Campus in the face of skepticism from the public and the administration; and,

WHEREAS, the University would not be the same institution it is today had it not been for the efforts of Claude McKinney; now; therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the NC State University Student Senate recognizes Claude McKinney for his dedicated service to the University; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the NC State University Student Senate sincerely thanks Claude McKinney for his tireless efforts to improve and expand the University.
