RESOLUTION 25

 

A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

An act IN SUPPORT OF A RESOLUTION URGING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE IN GERMAN STUDIES AT NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERISTY

 


BE IT RESOLVED, by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

WHEREAS,   NCSU has been trying to establish a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Business German; and, 

 

WHEREAS,   North Carolina State University is one of the few large universities in the United States without any type of degree in German; and,

 

WHEREAS,   Raleigh is one of a few cities of its size in the United States without any kind of German degree in any of its colleges or university; and

 

WHEREAS,   the North Carolina State University Libraries have more materials and books in German than they do in Spanish and French, which offer degrees; and,

 

WHEREAS,   more German-owned companies operate in North Carolina than do French and Spanish companies; and,

 

WHEREAS,   research has shown that a degree in Business German will be in demand as well as teacher certification in German; now therefore be it,  

 

RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate urges the University of North Carolina Board of Governors, the North Carolina State University Board of Trustees, the North Carolina State University Provost’s Office, the North Carolina State University College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the North Carolina State University Department of Foreign Languages to support the establishment of a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Business German and a teacher’s certification in German.
