WHEREAS,  the Judicial Board of the North Carolina State University Student Government

is largely isolated from the legislative and executive branches in serving students; and,

 

WHEREAS, often times, discrepancies in interpretations and limitations of the Student Body

                        Constitution and Student Body Statutes arise in the legislative process; and,

 

WHEREAS, better unifying the three branches of the NCSU Student Government and providing

                        checks on legislative and executive dealings would occur if the Judicial Board

                        were granted the powers of judicial review and constitutional interpretation; now,

                        therefore

 

BE IT ENACTED by the North Carolina State University Student Senate that:

 

Section 1.        Article III, Section 1 of the Student Body Constitution be amended by inserting:

 

E.       rule on the constitutionality of resolutions adopted by the Student Senate;

F.       interpret the rules of the Student Body Constitution and Student Body Statutes should a request be made by a majority petition of the Student Senate or the Student Body President.

 

Section 2.        This act shall be effective upon its adoption.
