A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED

An act to call upon the North Carolina State University administration to aid in the funding of the NCSU “red terror transit” to and from the university for home football games

WHEREAS,   Interim Chancellor Robert A. Barnhardt challenged the North Carolina State University Student Government to take a stand to help improve and enrich the culture of North Carolina State University, starting with North Carolina State University home football games; and,

 

WHEREAS,   students are allotted approximately 9,000 student tickets per home football games; and,

 

WHEREAS,   available parking spaces have been drastically decreased in number for students; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the number of parking permits issued to students will fluctuate for each home game based upon events scheduled at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the time constraints that have been placed on pre game activities will increase the percentage of students drinking and driving to the home football games; and,

 

WHEREAS,   many students, specifically underclassman, are limited in their forms of transportation; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the North Carolina State University Student Government sponsored buses to take students to and from the Richmond game and it was successful in transporting over 160 students to and from Carter-Finely stadium; and,

 

WHEREAS,   the North Carolina State University Student Government budget cannot sustain the funding for this transportation; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED,  that the North Carolina State University Student Senate request that the university aid in the continual funding of the NCSU “Red Terror Transit” to safely transport students to and from university home football games.
