A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTILED AN ACT TO COMMEND

WHEREAS, Students at North Carolina State University attend with the intentions of receiving a high quality education at an affordable price; and,

WHEREAS, Chancellor Oblinger recommended to the Board of Trustees' a tuition increase of only 3%; and,

WHEREAS, Chancellor Oblinger could have easily suggested an increase in tuition of 6.5% as suggested by the University's Tuition and Fee Advisory Committee; and,

WHEREAS, students would rather have seen no tuition increase, but recognize the necessity of one at this time, now therefore be it,

RESOLVED, that the Student Senate of North Carolina State University formally commends Chancellor James Oblinger for his restraint on his tuition increase proposal and his empathy for student's financial concerns; and be it further,

RESOLVED, that this body appreciates any action taken by the University to assure that all students are given the opportunity to attend this great institution with as little financial burden as possible.
