RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED
AN
ACT TO SUPPORT INCREASED SEATING FOR THE NC STATE UNIVERSITY MARCHING BAND AT
FOOTBALL GAMES

WHEREAS, the
N.C. State University Marching Band has increased by 46 students from the
previous 2007-2008 school year and has requested additional seating at
Carter-Finley Stadium to accommodate this growth; and,
WHEREAS, the band, also known as the Power Sound of the South, is a crucial component to student morale and intensity at football games; and,
WHEREAS, marching band students are required to attend all games to help promote success of the team, and are required to stay for the duration of each game; and,
WHEREAS, the five rows behind the band constitute less than 1.5% of General Admission student tickets; now, therefore, be it,
RESOLVED, by the N.C. State University Student Senate that it strongly encourages the Athletics Department to reallocate no more than the remaining five rows of section 113 for the use of the N.C. State University Marching Band students; and be it further,
RESOLVED, that this resolution is intended to apply solely to seating for football games; and be it further,
RESOLVED, that the Student Senate encourages the Athletics Department to reevaluate the size of the student section to take into account both the increase in student population and the changes outlined in this bill; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Student Senate strongly encourages student groups in the future to explore alternative options to accommodate increases in membership at athletic events.
