A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO ENHANCE SENATE CHAMBERS WITH A DOCUMENT CAMERA

WHEREAS, senate chambers wiring by Xerox Audio Visual Solutions cost $1,200 to enhance projector connectivity; and,

 

WHEREAS, some technology enhanced classrooms have ÒDocCamsÓ to capture live video of documents and document writing; and,

 

WHEREAS, the use of a DocCam can reduce the amount of distributed printed materials in committee, executive and judicial meetings that meet in senate chambers; and,

 

WHEREAS, the addition of a DocCam to senate chambers can improve the productivity of student organizations that use senate chambers; and,

 

WHEREAS, Senator OÕDonnell has not seen working DocCams at NCSU Surplus the past 4 times he went, preventing SG from using an interdepartmental transfer for free; and,

 

WHEREAS, the state may have contracts with Document Camera suppliers below advertised market value; and,

 

WHEREAS, SGÕs revolving technology fund stands at approximately $4,800 for the remainder of the academic year; now therefore be it,

 

RESOLVED,  that North Carolina State University Student Senate use $X from the revolving technology fund to purchase a DocCam comparable to units used in NCSU classrooms; and be it further,

 

RESOLVED,  this act shall be effective upon adoption.
