WHEREAS, Associate Vice Chancellor Evelyn Q. Reiman announced her retirement
effective January 1st, 2011; and,
WHEREAS, Evelyn Reiman started at NC State in 1979 as the Director of New Student Orientation and was promoted to the Director of Student Development in 1984; and,
WHEREAS, She was promoted again to the position of Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs in 1996; and,
WHEREAS, She created the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics, and Public Service, which is now recognized nationally; and,
WHEREAS, Her tenure also includes the creation or co-creation of numerous programs, projects, and departments, such as the NC State Women’s Center, Multicultural Student Affairs, the GLBT Center, the Talley Student Center expansion, Project SAFE, Parents and Families Services, Student Legal Services, and dedicated advising units for both Student Government and Student Media; and,
WHEREAS, Evelyn Reiman truly and faithfully fostered diversity and equality through her support of various programs on campus and her mentoring of new women professionals at NC State University; and,
WHEREAS, The Associate Vice Chancellor embodies everything meant by the Division of Student Affairs motto, “Students First;” now therefore be it,
RESOLVED, That the North Carolina State Student Senate wishes to honor this amazing individual for her time and dedication to our university and for her profound impact on the campus and its students.
