COMMITTEE REPORT
Report No. GO-46
GOVERNMENT BILL 84
Senator Erich M. Fabricius submitted the following report regarding Government Bill 84, "An Act to Further Define the Types of Bills Used by the Student Senate", on Monday, March 19, 2001, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuent to its March 19, 2001 recommendations, by unamimous consent:
As provided by Senate Rule 12(b), the committee requests that the Senate President place GB 84 on the calendar for second reading.
There were seven (7) Senators (Brown, Burgess-Ford, Denton, Engler, Fabricius, Mangum, Mcilmail.) present;
There were two (2) Senators (Carlson, Davis.) absent;
A quorum was present.
The Bill Definition Act is designed to clarify the various types of bills used by the Student Senate, specifically the ones dealing with the appropriation of the student body funds.
There is currently no concise explanation of distinctions between the various forms of financial legislation. Some uses are based solely in precedent and tradition. Use of Program Bills has been notably confusing
The Committee on Government Operations recommends the Senate consider the Bill Definition Act.
There were no amendments.
