Senator Erich M. Fabricius submitted the following report on Wendesday, March 20, 2002, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its March 6, 2002 recommendations, by general consent:

Attendance:

There were seven (7) Senators (Denton, Fabricius, Joyner, Mangum, Tatum, White, Wright) present;

There are one (1) Senator (Brown) absent;

A quorum was present.

Background

The committee was referred the question of rescinding Resolution 28, the Private Higher Education Act.

Recommendations

The committee found no evidence that there were factual errors in the resolution. The Committee therefore recommends the Senate not rescind the act for such reasons. The Committee further recommends that the President draft a letter in response to the orginal complaint, reiterating the Senate's stance, if he has not done so already.
