NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT SENATE
SESSION 2001-2002

COMMITTEE REPORT
Report No. GO-51

GOVERNMENT BILL 82

Senator Erich M. Fabricius submitted the following report regarding Government Bill 82, "An Act to Apportion the Student Senate by Strict FTE Calculations", on Wendesday, March 20, 2002, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its March 6, 2002 recommendations, by general consent:

Attendance:

There were seven (7) Senators (Denton, Fabricius, Joyner, Mangum, Tatum, White, Wright) present;

There are one (1) Senator (Brown) absent;

A quorum was present.

Purpose of the Legislation:

The FTE Apportionment Act adjusts Senate apportionment to strictly follow FTE enrollment, as required by statute.

Background Information:

The Senate adopted a reapportionment in the form of Government Bill 67, which contained many the provisions of the Government Bill 82.

Debate:

The committee believed this bill to be redundant, Government Bill 67 having been adopted with most of Government Bill 82 substituted into it.

Recommendations:

The Committee recommends no further consideration of the FTE Enrollment Act.
