Committee Minutes, Sunday, February 26th 2006

Secretary Sara Yasin submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Monday, February 27th 2006, on behalf of the Committee on Appropriations, and pursuant to its Sunday, February 26th 2006 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were nine (9) members (Barnes, Compton, Gula, Hutcherson, Mickey, Miller, R. Smith, Walton, Yasin) present. There was also one (1) non-voting member (Toms) present.

There were no members absent.

The following officials were also present: Adams, Fabricius, Griggs, Hankins, F. Hinton, Shivers, Sivakumar.

Hutcherson: Motion to allocate organizations that failed to show up to interviews $0.
Seconded by Miller and consented by Hutcherson. No objections.

Discussion of receipts deadlines. The committee agrees that groups without receipts are not allowed to have any money.

AR 93-Ektaa-motion to fund $900. seconded and objection to call consent. Treasurer Toms: “request was not turned in through appropriate format.” Problems with receipts; chair changed amendment to $0. motion to remove every motion on the floor and passes. Motion to reconsider funding of $0, seconded and consent was called and no objections. Debate on reconsideration, highly debated, discussed, and thoroughly looked into. Unanimous consent to reconsider AR 93. Motion to fund $500 for advertisements, seconded, and objection to consent. $500 passes and is funded.

Motion to reconsider AR 40—compton “I just don’t think we made the right decision there.” Treasurer Toms—“ I think that’s kind of dangerous.” Passed. Motion to amend to strike $700 and insert $600 and make it an on campus event, seconded, and consent has been called. Passes. Motion has been called for consent. Passes.

Receipts must be handed into the office of the Treasurer by 5pm on March 3rd. seconded and consent has been called. committee voted and passed the decision.
