Committee Minutes, Sunday, February 26th 2006

Chairman Zach Adams submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Monday, February 27th 2006, on behalf of the Committee on the Budget, and pursuant to its Sunday, February 26th 2006 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were six (6) members (Adams, Collins, Fabricius, Griggs, Kelly, Saunders) present. There was also one (1) non-voting member (Toms) present.

There was one (1) member (Sawrey) absent.

The following officials were also present: Hankins, F. Hinton, Piavis, Walton.

A quorum was present.

-Budget used for: Wolf Paws, Registering to vote in brickyard, progressive dinner
-disagreed with lowering the Chief Justice’s stipend, would like to see it at $3600
-proposed $750 for executive asst. position
-requests that the line item for expenses of the Student Body President be increased to $500
-Did not go on a executive branch retreat this year

III. Review of the Budget
-proposed amendment to move line item 1001 to line item 806 by Adams
-consent called and not objected, motion passes
-motion to strike officer attendance from line item 806 (friendly amendment) by Fabricius
-no objections
-proposed amendment to reduce line item 806 (referred to a later date) by Fabricius
-proposed amendment to increase Student Chief Justice, line item 104, $2,000 to $3,350 by Saunders
-consent on the motion(withdrawn)
-question called, passes by consent
-motion to strike line item 105 from $1,300 and insert $1,000 by Fabricius
-consent called and no objections, motion passes
-discussion of line item 601, reduced because it hasn’t been spent in years past
-consent to change line items 601 through 604 to “Office expenses of the Student…..”, no objections, motion passes

-discussion of line item 801
-motion to increase to $1500 by Adams (motion withdrawn)
-discussion of line item 1502
-friendly amendment to make line item read Graduate Assistant – SG Advisor (10 month)
-motion to decrease 1502 by 1,100.00 while increasing 1501 by $600 and creating 1504: Graduate Advisor – Professional Development for $500.
-passed by consent
