Committee Minutes, Wednesday, August 29th 2007
Chairman Matthew Potter submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Wednesday, September 5th 2007, on behalf of the Campus Community Committee, and pursuant to its Wednesday, August 29th 2007 recommendations:
There were six (6) members (J. Davis, Dawkins, Friel, Miller, M. Potter, Rose) present.
There were no members absent.
The following official was also present: Alston.
A quorum was present.
We met to brainstorm issues that we felt deserved our attention. We appointed Joe Sevits as Senate Liaison to the IRC.
•Nightwalk
Would like to do a Nightwalk once per semester
Late October or Early November for the fall
•Help get volunteers for Wear Red Get Fed during Homecoming week
SG has a specific day. We will start a signup sheet for our time slot
•Find volunteers for homecoming parade
•Dinner at the belltower?
•Centralize hike night.
Something for students under 21
Possibly something in the brickyard
•Get better publicity
Technician reports stuff after it has past
Press Secretary is crucial. Preferably someone from CCC.
•NC State Wiki
Find a way to get students to become active with the wiki
•Alcohol policies
Drinking safely rather than trying to leave and get back to campus
•Party bus.
Night buses to reduce drunk driving
Additional transportation for night students
Will be talking to campus police regarding late night safety statistics
Will be talking to transportation about feasibility of buses, vans, cars, etc.
