Committee Minutes, Tuesday, January 8th 2008

Chairman Johnny Dawkins, IV submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Tuesday, January 8th 2008, on behalf of the Campus Community Committee, and pursuant to its Tuesday, January 8th 2008 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were six (6) members (Dawkins, Friel, Johnson, Miller, K. Mills, Rose) present.

There were four (4) members (J. Davis, Myers, M. Potter, Stewart) absent.

The following officials were also present: P. Barnes, Chen, Doucette, Rogers.

A quorum was present.

SR55:
Proxy Friel thought the bill was well suited to bring our campus up to speed with other UNC system peers. Added that having a knowledgable third party (such as lawyer or public defender) involved would elicit better results.

Proxy Miller spoke in support of discharging the bill with a positive review but that appropriate administrators must be contacted before we could make any headway.

Senator Mills backed the bill stating that she sponsored the bill because she believed it would be worthwhile advocacy for students.

Senator Mills moved to refer SR 55 favorably to NCSU Student Senate.
The motion was seconded by proxy Friel.

The motion passed unanimously.

Senator Mills moved to end the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned.
