Committee Minutes, Sunday, January 13th 2008

President Pro Tempore Mike Alston submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Wednesday, January 16th 2008, on behalf of the Committee on Appropriations, and pursuant to its Sunday, January 13th 2008 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were seven (7) members (Alston, P. Barnes, Demanovich, Friel, McCullough, Parnell, Webb) present. There was also one (1) non-voting member (Foxx) present.

There were two (2) members (Chiang, M. Potter) absent.

The following officials were also present: Doucette, Joyner.

A quorum was present.

Meeting Overview:

Finalized the packet, including revising the dates. Also planned our publicity for this cycle and what we can do to improve.

Meeting Minutes:

Fixed everything up nicely involving the packet; see attached.
We set the max an organization can receive to $2000, down from 10% (approx. 3600).
Discussed needs for publicity:
--Sandwich boards (if available, Dave Foxx to check availability)
--Flyers on the Wolfline (Gottlieb to design, Barnes to laminate, --Alston to contact Transportation)
--Foxx to talk to Dining and "Wolf Bytes" about using the flyer design for publicity
--Foxx to contact Deborah Felder to send mass e-mail containing REVISED packet.
Going to be doing 2 nights of interviews and one night of markup, and an appropriate amount of nights (1, 2, or 3?) for appeals process. Bill will be through second reading on the evening of Thursday, February 21st. We will have a special meeting that night @ 9:00 that will be VERY quick. And afterwards, we can all go eat and spend some quality time together. Furthermore, this means that we will be getting everything to the NCSU Business office by 2/22. Which means that--and keep your fingers crossed on this one--MAYBE, just maybe, checks will be ready for pickup before spring break.
