Committee Minutes, Thursday, September 27th 2007
Chairman Scott Lassiter submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Friday, September 28th 2007, on behalf of the Tuition and Fees Committee, and pursuant to its Thursday, September 27th 2007 recommendations:
There were five (5) members (P. Barnes, Hook, Lassiter, Lumpkin, Waldrup) present.
There was one (1) member (Lal) absent.
The following officials were also present: Schweitzer, Webb.
A quorum was present.
General discussion and motions related to proposed fee increases:
Meeting Minutes:
Chairman Lassiter called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.
Motion to support the fees that aren’t increasing. Motion passed.
Student Legal Services Fee- $1.00 increase requested ($10.00 proposed rate).
Motion to recommend full $1.00 increase. Motion passed.
Student Center Operations Fee- $13.70 increase requested ($206.40 proposed rate).
Motion to recommend $7.40 increase to provide for Legislative Increase in salaries. Motion passed.
Recreational Sports Fee- $23.15 increase requested ($114.75 proposed rate)
Motion to recommend $17.00 increase to support Legislative mandated salary and benefit increases, given that intramural team caps are lifted. Motion passed.
Intercollegiate Athletics Fee- $17.50 increase requested ($144.00 proposed rate)
Motion to recommend no fee increase. Motion passed.
Student Health Service Fee- Operations- $12.00 increase requested ($233.00 proposed rate)
Motion to recommend $3.00 increase to be spent on lab equipment, radiology equipment, medical practice software, hardware, construction and emergency as specified in Form D. Motion passed.
Educational and Technology Fee- $23.00 increase requested ($377.00 proposed rate)
Motion to recommend $11.50 increase. Motion passed.
Transit Operations Fee (Bus Service)- $16.00 increase requested ($130.00 proposed rate)
Motion to recommend $12 increase. Motion passed.
Indebtedness Fees (Thompson Theatre, Student Health Service Expansion, Intercollegiate Athletics, Carmichael Gymnasium Expansion)- $7.00 increase requested ($184.00 proposed rate)
Motion to approve $28.00 fee decrease request for Indebtedness and approve $35.00 fee increase request for Expansion, for a total fee increase of $7.00. Motion passed.
*86th Session recommended the expansion of the Student Health Center.
