Committee Minutes, Wednesday, March 18th 2009

Chairman Sarah Lindh submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Wednesday, March 18th 2009, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its Wednesday, March 18th 2009 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were five (5) members (Chiang, D. Johnson, Layton, Lindh, Jacquelyn Smith) present.

There were two (2) members (Ashok, Brackett) absent.

A quorum was present.

Meeting Overview:

-Graphic Designer Act
-Joe Sevits: Bureau for Research and Communication

Meeting Minutes:

Senator Emeritus Joe Sevits: Introduced a proposal for the Bureau for Research and Communication: it's duties, Chief Knowledge Officer, Directors of Projects and research, policy and practice Associate Directors...etc. The first reading of the legislation will come up in the next Senate meeting which will be referred back to Government Operations Committee for second reading.

(Guest)Tim Lipka: The proposal sounds very expensive and sounds like we are merging with the same procedures as IRC. Suggests that we create a committee between both branches to solve these issues rather than create a large piece of legislation on an incoming SBP.

(Guest) Elmo Liam: Afraid this division would be dropped off and forgotten mainly because of so many people, such as Wolf Aids.
