Campus Community minutes
September 16, 2009
• Campout: The event will officially be held at Reynolds coliseum. We are still waiting on a date, we will know by the 18th. We can’t do the campout on a Friday night because it will then be overtime for the workers, instead we are looking at a Saturday.
Morgan: Why don’t we look at doing it December 17th?
Arialle: That may be to far away from the event to engage students, and we don’t want to distract from exams.
• Pack Perks: We still need to call the vendors to get them on board. Arialle will create a google document to set up calling of vendors.
• Shack-a-thon: we now have the lumber, need people to sign up for shifts. T raise money Jim has offered to let students throw water balloons at him in order to raise money.
• SG Tailgate: Held during the Pittsburgh game
Morgan: Will family day interfere?
Arialle: Students are not required to be there; we just need a couple of people to man the station. We will have free food and are hoping to just get in touch with students
• Food for Tailgate: Marcos pizza, call Brian Anstead ( 919-832-8889). We have games, and we are trying to find a corn hole game. This will be the debut of pack perks.
• Ticketing Updates: Tim Lipka is bringing an act to Kelli to define loyalty points.
• SG polos:
Morgan: can we get nametags?
Arialle: Eileen is already working on that, but good idea.
Senators will have to pay for either polos or nametags. Sarah will talk to Kelli about the nametags, Morgan will ask Cody about the polos and final prices. We are expecting the senators to pay $10.
• Ipod casts: Sam is working on setting up an podcast to advertise student governments accomplishments
• IRC: reviewing 24 hr visitation policy. Now is a prime time to try and change this since we are under a new chancellor.
• Other ideas:
Breanne: wants to look at the idea of purchasing a Holiday tree for the brickyard, however it cant be done this year because the deposit on a tree would have been due by now. The whole process will cost approx $8,000. This would be SG philanthropy and we would donate to toys for tots
Morgan: That’s really expensive, it needs to be done well in advance
Breanne: yes and it needs to go through senate first
• R17 annual seating act: read at last senate meeting. Dick Christy is concerned about the fluctuation in required tickets each year. Arialle is proposing that we offer a friendly on the floor to amend the act so that it may not exceed 200 tickets, also talk to Kouba to see if it can be reviewed yearly.
Vote: all in favor, unanimous
