Committee Minutes, Wednesday, September 30th 2009

There were no members absent.

Meeting Overview:
Campout:
• We will have a poll sent out to students. Meet with Margo, UAB is looking into local bands but they cannot play if its below 55 degrees. Looking into doing a movie on the screen along the wall of Reynolds. Really letting UAB run with the ball on this one, this is their specialty. We want to keep informed, but its really their part of the project.
• Concern: UAB is funding more money and if there are conflicts later down the road it will be brought back up and this is a student government activity
• Once we have a budget, we will try to make it more even. But we need to put in as much/more money than them because it is technically our event. We requested UAB to be involved but they came up with the amount of money to include in the budget, but didn’t realize the small scale we were working on.
• May ask for $2500 more from surplus if it will cost more, or we will ask UAB to cut back their contributions (if it cost less).
• Concern: if campout is over winter break we will not break 60% distribution, it seems like over preparation. We also should not let 90% be an option.
• Possibly move it to beginning of December, but worry about exams. Putting December 17 in survey because it is after exams. However, it may be too far away from the game to get enough support.
• On poll we students will be given the option of Jan 15, Jan 9, and Dec 17
• If we do campout in December, we will need to change checkout dates for dorms.
• Check with Jim and Jay before making final decision
Pack Perks
• Nothing new, still working with Hillsborough street
Tailgating
• Went well, 30-35 students
• We are planning tailgate for Carolina game with IRC and UAB (hopefully)
Polos and nametags:
• Polos to Sarah Lindh’s company
• Sarah Center needs to talk to Eileen
Loyalty Point distribution Rule presented by Tim Lipka (codifying what we already do, please e-mail Arialle with any concerns)
New Ideas!
• Tentative plans for committee: publicizing senate meetings through sandwich boards, using Technician more (however, go to Jim, Kelly or someone before putting something in the paper), 24 hour visitation revision, HARP process revision
• Matt Blanchard needs to contact university dining.
