SENATE RESOLUTION 23

Senator Katie Mills, E submitted the following report regarding Senate Resolution 23, "A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTILED AN ACT TO SET GENERAL DECORUM STANDARDS FOR THE 89TH SESSION OF NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT SENATE", to the Student Senate on Wednesday, October 14th 2009, on behalf of the Committee on Leadership Development, and pursuant to its Tuesday, October 13th 2009 recommendations:

As provided by Senate Rule, the committee requests that the Senate President place Senate Resolution 23, on the calendar for second reading.

Attendance:

There were three (3) members (D. Bascombe, Lindh, Mills) present.

There were four (4) members (E. Brown, Bryant, Crabtree, Yopp) absent.

The following official was also present: Center.

A quorum was not present.

Purpose of Legislation:

TO SET GENERAL DECORUM STANDARDS FOR THE 89TH SESSION OF NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT SENATE

Committee Amendments:

-that senators with laptops during any senate meeting shall seat themselves along the perimeter of the senate chambers to avoid distracting other senators, speakers, and guests; and be it further,

-that the Student Senate President has the ability to request that all laptops are closed during any period of the senate meeting that they deem appropriate
