NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT SENATE
89TH SESSION, 2009-2010

COMMITTEE REPORT
Report No. GO-03

Committee Minutes, Thursday, October 1st 2009

Senator Sarah Lindh submitted the following report to the Student Senate on Thursday, October 1st 2009, on behalf of the Government Operations Committee, and pursuant to its Thursday, October 1st 2009 recommendations:

Attendance:

There were four (4) members (D. Bascombe, Chiang, Goldsmith, Lindh) present.

There were two (2) members (Ashok, Nelson) absent.

The following officials were also present: Bloodworth, Rogers, Walsh.

A quorum was present.

Meeting Overview:

Government Operations met to paint pumpkins and eat cookies over discussing the Fee Referendum and Tuition and Fees Resolution that will be fast tracked for the following Senate Meeting. (Oct. 6th)

Meeting Minutes:

Considering the considerable length of the Fee Referendum, I will save you paper and say that we reviewed this ENTIRE survey line by line. Yes, LINE by LINE!

We made a superfluous amount of corrections to the referendum because Kelli(y?) had to write the entire wording of the referendum for our meeting to review. (Sorry Kelli, we KNOW how mad you get when people spell your name with a Y).

Since our Government Operations is a generous committee and feel that they could contribute to the student body as a whole, we moved our regularly scheduled meeting time on Wednesday to Thursday to accommodate Kelli. The committee reviewed and revised the voting survey to absolute perfection and is ready for student's approval for increasing fees! (*crossing fingers*)

The Government Operations Committee supports the wording of the Fee Referendum that will be introduced to students for voting on October 5th.

Secondly, we had meditation moment to let out all of our midterm stress and painted pumpkins and ate cookies.

Finally, the committee reviewed and revised the Fee Proposal Increase Act. All requested revisions were addressed to the sponsoring senator, Bloodworth.

The Government Operations Committee supports the fee proposal act for the 2010-2011 academic year upon committee changes.
