54 Things to do at NC State

Volunteer at Service NC State.

Background Information:

Service NC State is the culminating event to Wolfpack Welcome Week each August and reinforces' NC State's commitment to being in service with our communities. Started in August 2003, the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics, & Public Service (CSLEPS) created the event as a way to introduce freshman to the needs of our local and global community. Service NC State has quickly become an NC State tradition and is now open to all students, faculty, staff and the Raleigh community. NC State continues to take a leadership role in the fight to end hunger. In 2006 CSLEPS established a partnership with Stop Hunger Now, a Raleigh based international hunger relief agency. Volunteers package dehydrated meals to support school lunch feeding programs around the world while learning about hunger. Since 2008, NC State has served as the lead university sponsor for the University Million Meal event in which NC colleges and universities have packaged over 2 million meals and counting. We share Stop Hunger Now's vision of a world without hunger in our lifetime and are committed to working together to make that vision a reality! Check out the action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9YUUvbRmss (below). In 2010, CSLEPS adding a new project to Service NC State, a record setting 500 unit blood drive in one day in partnership with the American Red Cross. Join CSLEPS as they continue to set records in support of our community partners and their efforts to make the world a more just place to live. Check the website to see how you can get involved!
