Transition - Helping ease the exchange of power

Common Sense Solutions

This campaign is dedicated to addressing the problems we face with common sense solutions. Below, you will find a few of the major issues I will take on as your next student body president.
Here’s where we start:

  • We should have a later, warmer Spring Break!
  • Let’s renovate Talley and expand the overcrowded Atrium.
  • Let’s tap student brain-power to solve university-wide problems.

Financial Solutions

Problem: The University needs to innovate and cut costs; students need financial aid.
Solution: Let’s support sustainable initiatives and direct a portion of the savings generated into merit scholarships for outstanding student-innovators. Let’s give incentives to students who innovate and cut costs.

Problem: University spending and budget cuts are baffling.
Solution: Let’s make university budgets transparent and accessible online. I want to know what the administration is doing with my money!

Problem: Textbook costs.
Solution: Let’s stop professors from assigning books we don’t use and expand the library’s free textbook program so we can keep more cash in our pockets.

Student Life Solutions

Problem: Spring Break is too #$!@ COLD!
Solution: Let’s get more student representation on the Registration, Records, and Calendar committee and set Spring Break for a week in Spring!

Problem: A divided campus and racial tensions.
Solution: Let’s strive to promote a culture of mutual respect on campus. Through a collective Campus Community Initiative, we can get past the differences between us and realize that we are one wolfpack family!

Problem: Talley is outdated and the Atrium is overcrowded.
Solution: Let’s keep the ball rolling on plans to remake these spaces and be sure that they become areas N.C. State students can enjoy for years to come.

Problem: Creating more options for student entertainment.
Solution: Let’s work to expand the Downtown bus route to more off-campus students, and work to make Hillsborough Street a fun late-night spot for students, once again!

Problem: Transportation on campus is a mess.
Solution: Let’s tap the brain-power we have here (our own civil engineers) to find ways to alleviate issues with parking, traffic and busing.

Problem: Way too much red tape to transfer between colleges.
Solution: Let’s work with the administration and individual colleges to make the transfer process more seamless. Students should not be punished for choosing a new major in a different college.

Enhancing Traditions

Problem: We need to fill the stands faster and have more fun at games.
Solution: Let’s solicit private donations from alumni and sponsors to fund more entrances and scanners for football games so the stadium fills up faster. Let’s build on our unique gameday traditions to make Wolfpack football games an unforgettable experience!

Problem: We need to raise awareness of of NC State’s history and traditions.
Solution: Let’s embrace our long and storied history. Many have come before us here at N.C. State and many will come after. Let’s understand what it means to be a part of the Wolfpack family, while we make our mark on this great University. GO PACK!
