According to the University Cashier‘s Office, students currently pay a Student Legal Services fee to “fund the student legal services program which offers legal services to all students.” This fee is currently $9.00 and was last increased in 2002.

Student Legal Services has proposed an increase in this fee in the amount of $1.00. The purpose of this increase is to maintain current services in light of inflation and related increases in operating costs, as well as fund advertising to better inform the Student Body of the program‘s services.

The Carmichael Complex has proposed an increase in this fee in the amount of $23.15. The purpose of this increase is to fund the building operating reserve for the new Carmichael Recreation Center and maintain current services in light of inflation and related increases in operating costs, including increased utility costs and legislated increases in salaries and benefits required by the N.C. The purpose of this increase is to maintain current services in light of inflation and related increases in operating costs, including the increased cost of medications and legislated increases in salaries and benefits required by the N.C. General Assembly, as well as provide a significant increase in contracted psychiatrist hours to meet student demand.

Student Health Services has proposed retiring the current fee of $28.00 and establishing a new fee of $35.00, a net increase of $7.00. The purpose of this increase is to fund an approximately 17,500 square foot expansion of the Student Health Services building to accommodate student demand.
